The epic 2020 wedding photography review
Hello there, this is the Tony Fanning photography epic 2020 wedding photography review, with some family portraits thrown in for good measure.
2020, the year that COVID-19 did for weddings what the Great Plague of London did for pet rat ownership.
It started off so well, with the beautiful wedding of Holly and Toni in the Grosvenor Pulford. A day of fun and love. After that though came the first lockdown.
Epic mini weddings rock!
We did manage a few smaller socially distanced weddings in Chateau Rhianfa, Hen Blas country park, Bodafon farm, Bodnant Welsh food centre, and Bron Eifion country house.
As a wedding photographer in North Wales 2020 was terrible, as it was for every business in the wedding industry. With so few weddings to photograph it meant I was able to spend much more time photographing families, and for the first time I have added some of those moments to this end of year review.
Being a family portrait photographer in Colwyn bay I was in an ideal position to go out in the summer and raise money for the NHS charities. I did this by offering doorstep portraits. All within a short walk from my home I spent a minute or two with each family and create a fun reminder of them during the lockdown.

That was my 2020 as a wedding photographer in North Wales. Slim pickings considering I normally photograph 25-30 weddings every year.
Not just a wedding photographer in North Wales
I didn’t just photograph weddings last year though. I photographed dozens of families too. Either on their own doorsteps during lockdown (raising over £700 for charity too) or we went out and about in the glorious North Wales weather. A few of them are below.

Then, just as the year was coming to an end I set up a little Christmassy scene and photographed some of the smaller members of the community. Seeing their little faces light up was a joy. Definitely going to do some more of this this year.
What now then, we love your wedding and portrait photography ?
As always, at every wedding, there is more to weddings than portraits. As these beautiful weddings prove 🙂
