Welcome along to my best wedding photography of 2022.

Well, this is my annual ‘end of year review’, and what a year it’s been.

44 weddings photographed. 7 different counties. 29 different venues. Over 175,000 photographs taken.

You could say it’s been a busy one.

From the hottest weddings I have ever been in, to the wettest and windiest.

Thank you to each and every couple that trusted me with this enormous life event. Without you I’d be nothing.

All you small businesses that work together to make a couples’ wedding dreams come true, you guys are amazing! You’re not part of a huge multinational company, you work out of small premises, or your own homes, and we all do it to make other people happy. Be proud of what you do!

I have so many pictures to share with you I have broken it down into the main parts of a wedding day- the prep, the ceremony, candid wedding photography, bride and groom portraits, the speeches, and the evening partying.

As is normal for me, I have added way too many pictures to this post, but I hope you like what I did in 2022.

The best wedding photography 2022- Morning preparations

It’s when it all starts for me on a wedding day. The bridal preparations is where the nerves kick in, and everyone gets excited.

I love this part of the wedding day. I get to meet all the girls, and the bride’s parents for the first time. It sets the tone for the rest of the day really- if the energy is high during the prep I know I’m in for a great day.

2022- The ceremony

Or as many call it- the bit before the party bit.

I have been very lucky to photograph weddings in some truly beautiful locations. This year I have been everywhere from a cathedral to a shepherd’s hut, and city centres to views over Snowdonia.

Each of them have been individual, poignant, and beautiful.

Unscripted touches, looks, and smiles are always there if you look for them.

The best wedding photography 2022- Candids

This is the unscripted, and unposed bits of a wedding day. The part of the day I like to sit/stand and watch people.

There’ll be a great aunt or grandmother sitting quietly chatting with relatives. There’ll be the couple’s friends downing shots, and getting very animated. A bucket of confetti, smoke grenades, tender moments, and full-on belly laughs moments.

All magnificent moments in a wedding day. All different, and all hugely important to the bride and groom. These are what make a wedding day special.

The best wedding photography 2022- The brides and grooms

This is what most people think of when they think of the best wedding photography. Honestly though, the time I spend with a bride and groom, on their own, is probably a total of 20-30 minutes all day. It’s such a small percentage of an actual wedding day, and as I always say to couples- there’s more to weddings than portraits- as you’ll see by scrolling through this post.

All I want from my couples is to look happy, and be into each other. You do that and the pictures will show that. You’ve literally just got married, so it shouldn’t be too much of a chore, should it!

I don’t ‘pose’ couples. Most couples will naturally fall into a lovely relaxed ‘pose’ if I let them.

I may tweak a little, but I strive for natural, unposed wedding photography, so this is always kept to a minimum.

The best wedding photography of 2022- Speeches

This is the part many grooms dread! You really don’t need to worry about your wedding speech. It’s your best man that needs to be funny, and charming.

Just be yourself, and NEVER forget to say how amazing your new wife/husband is.

Throw in some games, or a singing waiter, and you’ve got a recipe for success.

Also, if you can make someone, or yourself cry they make great images too!

2022- Evening partying

You’ve done all the hard work, now is time to let your hair down and have the best party you’ve ever had.

Some sparklers to get your guests invested in your evening celebrations make a really fun way to kick off the evening party, so make sure you have plenty.

Get those ties off and get them tied around your heads- let go of your inhibitions and just have fun. Like they say, dance like nobody is watching. Except I will be watching, with a camera.
