A wedding at Hilltop country house

Sometimes working doesn’t feel like work, which was the case with Lydia and Matthew’s wedding at Hilltop country house.

This was my first visit to this beautiful venue, over in Cheshire, but hopefully it won’t be my last.

I started my day at the gorgeous St Peter’s Church, Prestbury, where many of the guests were rehearsing inside. They just happen to be part of the English national opera, and when the sing, they SING! Wow! It really makes a difference when there’s proper singing in a church.

Afterwards, off they went in their friend’s little MG car. I think every wedding should have an MG!

Champagne reception in a country house garden

The weather was really on point for this wedding at Hilltop country house. The sun shone, but not too much. Just enough to make the vibe super chilled. Nothing better than a champagne reception in beautifully manicured gardens, in the sunshine.

Lydia and Matthew didn’t want a list of staged photos, instead it was limited to maybe four or five with their closest family. They were keen to just have their guests photographed doing whatever they were doing. This makes the photographs so much more personal, and interesting to look at. We’re not Victorians, so my stand there with forced smiles.

After some of the best speeches I have heard in a long time, we managed to get some beautiful evening ‘golden hour’ sunshine. Just perfect for some gorgeous portraits before the dancing.

What wedding would be complete without a dress change. You’ve got to be comfortable when you’re dancing right!

All in all it was a wonderful day. Congratulations Lydia and Matthew. I wish you a long and happy marriage.
